New District Governor: Rick Manganello
June 1, 2010
Rick was born in Worchester, but as a child of an Army family he moved many times. He went to grade school in California and graduated from high school in Okinawa. At Lowell College, he met and married his wife, Janet. He spent the next twenty-one years as an Air Force officer.
Since he usually spent no more than three or four years in any one place, he learned a lot about the local communities quickly. After he left the Air Force, Rick established Windmill International Inc, a professional services company that works with defense programs
When he moved to Nashua, he met the mayor who said Rick should become a member of Rotary which he did in August 1997. He was president of the club in 2002-2003.
As District Governor, Rick has four key goals. First, he wants to work with Jan McElroy and Tony Gilmore, District Governor Elect and District Governor Nominee to develop a three year long range plan for the District.
Secondly, he wants to encourage each club to develop a vision for their clubs and an action plan to realize their vision. The District exists to help the clubs.
Third, Rick would like to strengthen the way the District supplies membership support to the clubs. He wants to establish a stronger team membership growth process.
Fourth, he would like to see Rotary's corporate goal, after conquering polio, be world peace centers. Rick feels that the way to achieve all of Rotary's goals is to energize the clubs which is where it all happens.
