Meet New Member Michael Day
June 1, 2014
Michael Day is retired. He and his
wife, Jan, moved to this area
because they had vacationed in the
area for over thirty years since
their children were little. They
have lived in Shaftsbury for the
last year and a half.
Before this Michael worked for
thirty-nine years at Gould's Pumps
which was taken over by ITT. For
the last twelve of those thirty-nine
years he worked for them as a
production manager. Before that
he was in engineering and
Since he has retired he is doing
some consultant work for his
former employer. He and Jan like
to travel. Michael has been to over
thirty countries for his business.
He also plays some golf and gets
together with friends he has made
in the area. He is also involved in
the Second Congregational
Michael was born and lived in
Brookville, Pennsylvania until his
family moved to Seneca Falls
when he was in high school.
Michael went to Clarkson
University and received a degree
in chemical engineering.
When Michael was in Seneca
Falls, where he lived for 42 years,
he was active in the United Way.
He was campaign chair several
times and board chair several
times. He worked with Rotarians
then and saw that they had similar
interests. He feels Rotary will be a
good organization in which he will
be able to serve the community
Michael was also board chair of
the local school board for six
years, as well as being on the state
board for United Way.
Michael and Jan have two
daughters, Andrea and Mary Beth.
Both are college graduates with
advanced degrees. Andrea is
married and lives in Montana and
Mary Beth is engaged and lives in
New York city.
