Meet New Member Michael Day

June 1, 2014

Michael Day
Michael Day is retired. He and his wife, Jan, moved to this area because they had vacationed in the area for over thirty years since their children were little. They have lived in Shaftsbury for the last year and a half.

Before this Michael worked for thirty-nine years at Gould's Pumps which was taken over by ITT. For the last twelve of those thirty-nine years he worked for them as a production manager. Before that he was in engineering and marketing.

Since he has retired he is doing some consultant work for his former employer. He and Jan like to travel. Michael has been to over thirty countries for his business. He also plays some golf and gets together with friends he has made in the area. He is also involved in the Second Congregational Church.

Michael was born and lived in Brookville, Pennsylvania until his family moved to Seneca Falls when he was in high school. Michael went to Clarkson University and received a degree in chemical engineering.

When Michael was in Seneca Falls, where he lived for 42 years, he was active in the United Way. He was campaign chair several times and board chair several times. He worked with Rotarians then and saw that they had similar interests. He feels Rotary will be a good organization in which he will be able to serve the community

Michael was also board chair of the local school board for six years, as well as being on the state board for United Way.

Michael and Jan have two daughters, Andrea and Mary Beth. Both are college graduates with advanced degrees. Andrea is married and lives in Montana and Mary Beth is engaged and lives in New York city.
